Tattoos, take two

Okay, so here's what I've been looking at that appeal to me.  Should I get one on the foot?  I wear shoes at work that would cover it up, and only go barefoot at home.  Or should I get one in an indiscreet place like my hip?  Note to self:  remember the pain issue.  Where would it smart the least?

Tattoos

I've been seriously thinking about getting a tattoo.  Nothing big and elaborate.  Just small, cute, and inconspicuous.  So I was trolling the internet, looking for ideas when I came across this.

Yeah, it's a tattoo.  Spanking stories, anyone?

Another self-pubbing vs being with a publisher question

Several authors I know are starting to produce their own books and self-publish.  These are authors who are already with a publisher, but for some reason or another, are choosing to go the self-pubbed route.

They're figuring that, since they're already pubbed, and their books are already on Amazon, Fictionwise, and ARe OmniLit, that they have a readership built in who'll buy their books no matter where they're pubbed.

I've heard this type of arguement before, but it seems to be growing in strength with the increased number of self-pubbed books.

My question is this:  Should an author go with self-pubbing once they've established a name for themselves?  Or should they stick with their publisher?

It's Mayhem Monday!

It gives a whole new meaning to the term "Drugs, Sex, and Rock 'n Roll!"

I'm waiting for the time I see one of these Wangcasters being played on stage.

First impressions aren't always what they seem.

If you look carefully, you'll see the tree limb curves upward to the girl's right.  But, be honest now, what was your first impression?

More on The Chicken Ranch

While looking on the internet for a decent picture of The Chicken Ranch, I came across this dollhouse.  You have to see it to believe it!

<---  BTW, these are brass tokens given to patrons.  They make interesting conversation pieces if you pull one out while searching your pocket for spare change for the soft drink machine.

It's Mayhem Monday!

It's a pillow!

It's a blow-up toy!

It's a wresting partner!

It's a guy's ultimate fantasy!

How sexy is YOUR lingerie?

I'd be curious to know -

1.  What percentage of women buy really risque lingerie?
2.  What percentage of women actually wear that lingerie?
3.  Compare that to romance authors - how many of us buy/wear it?
(Thongs are not included.  Crotchless is.)

Lagniappe:  If I go nuts at Frederick's or Victoria's Secret, can I write it off my income tax as a business expense?

What do you find provocative?

I see on some people's websites certain pictures -- some female, some male.  I look at other authors' covers, and most of the time I see both male and female figures.  Which makes me wonder -- why have the woman on it?  Do women find other nude or semi-nude women provocative and sexy?  Or are the female figures there to entice male readers?  If the majority of romance readers are female, why have the female figures on the covers?

Stimulus Package

I don't know about other people, but since I write erotic romances, I get a whole different visual image every time I hear the words "stimulus package".   (Evil grin!)

Satin sheets? For real?

How often do you read about the hero and heroine getting all hot and passionate on satin sheets?  It makes me wonder if the author has actually slept on them.  Yeah, they look great in dim candlelight.  All soft and shimmery.  But run your hand over them against the nap, and they scratch.  And that's not taking into effect that you could slid right off the bed at the most inopportune moment.

To me, the best sheets are pure cotton, preferably Egyptian.  They age soft as a baby's butt, they absorb perspiration, and they're cool against hot skin.  And the best part is, in case your mother-in-law sees them, they don't make your bedroom look like a bordello.

Need a pen?

Where I work, people are always swiping my pen.
Wonder if they'd take this one.

This is one reason why outsourcing doesn't work.

My DH sent this to me. This is one of the best blooper ads I have seen, and it demonstrates what can happen when companies outsource their ads to foreign countries in order to cut costs. Someone who is ESL (English as a second language) wrote the copy line for this ad (see below). The woman has heartburn, she finds the Gaviscon, then she pours it out. The little firemen coming out of the bottle are supposed to be there. The little firemen put out the fire in her stomach, then she has a satisfied smile on her face. It's the writing at the end that is hilarious.
